find a sign shop or go to a sign writers (2nd be more expensive) in town ect and ask him to run you a 2 inch strip enough to do what you want done

but it would crease as the lid is not flat.......... wouldnt it?

Yes it does.
Plus DIY if your no good at it, will look SH!!TE.
I once had a scuff on my evil kinevel helmet, and it knocked the laquer and the paint off in one spot. It was only dropped an inch off the floor. I had some acrylic paint left from my art box mixed it up and repainted it, nobody could tell the difference, and it was a cheap helmet that was due for renewal anyway

I wouldn't recommend to do it though, if you didn't know what you were doing

No it does not - not on any Arai anyway.

You shouldn't paint a polycarbonate helmet under any circumstances, but painting a fibreglass shell such as an Arai is fine and will not compromise the safety of it.

This would be my main reason for not DIYing it, but a simple yellow cross should be easy to achieve to a good standard. Anything more complex I'd leave to an expert helmet painter. I've painted a few lids over the years with aerosols and you can get quite a good finish. Nowadays iId let a mate who's got a car bodyshop do it instead.

You could use loads of strips of the really thin yellow insulating tape (about 4 should be enough for the width) would be easier to work with and as its a bit more stretchy it shouldn`t crease. Bring it with you this weekend and we can all have a bash

Signwriting vinyl is incredibly stretchy and will take shape over a lid easily. Just make sure the vinyl is warm when it's being applied and spray a little water with a drop (just a drop) of washing up liquid on the lid first. Apply the vinyl then squeegee the water out with a felt scraper from a signwriters shop.

Only polycarbonate shells. Fibreglass or carbon-fibre reinforced shells are fine with being painted.

oh, right, that may be a better idea then,

the helmet is not in the best of condition, so it does not have to be perfect
