Well Rougham to Claydon is good on the A14, although they've taken my favourite bends out at Haughly, but they got rid of the speed camera too.
 In Bury you've got the Greene King brewery and of course Adnams in Southworld. both very good beers.  Mellis don't know it, but Diss and surronding area is very nice. But Diss to Claydon on the A140, h'mm not a nice road.

Sorry I forgot you were an ex pat! You'll know all about sunny Suffolk.
Nothing cheers me up more than heading east on the A12 near Stratford St Mary and seeing the sign 'Welcome to Suffolk'
