I already have authority to remove a few items and will be speaking to them again before anything like the alarm is removed. I understand what you are saying but after speaking with them, they don't seem too interested in fitted accessories.
Are you claiming off your own insurance or a third party's? If it's your own then I can understand their reluctance to pay for extras of which a value wasn't pre-agreed, but a third party's should give you the value of the bike plus any extras that were fitted at the time it was written off.

If they won't budge then tell them you want the bike rebuilt and see how they like that. They can't refuse that demand.

+ 1, I have removed three off of my own bikes and I have been asked to remove a few for customers too (all doc's checked first).

Alarms don't work, how many times do you hear an alarm going off in a busy high street, and how many pay attention to it? Thief's now a days pick bikes up and throw them in the back of a van, some have been known to have 'Motorcycle Breakdown' written on the side. If you want a thief deterrent that won't drain you battery or not allow you to start the bike then get a chain.
