thought about hand guards and whilst eliminating the problem of clipping the brake lever I'd be a good few inches wider which would make filtering harder. Think I'll just buy some pattern parts and have a play around.

Cheers

If you look at the photo your seel they are infact no wider then the bars with the bar-end wieghts, and as they are plastic they are more forgiving to paint if you do make a mistake.

I replaced the standard bar ends with smaller jobs becasue I thought they were too big.

Good idea but there isn't much room to move them up, one thing I will mention is the handle bars actually stick out further than the levers. If you are hitting the lever you will definitely hit the handle bar.

But they are wider than the OEM set-up, look at the added length of those bar ends...

Not much though... half a inch at most, if you use shorter bar weights then it would come out the same. I just don't like the vibration you get through the bars with the shorter ones as I do a lot of motorway miles.

I was under the impression that if your lever didn`t have a ball-end on it , it was an MOT fail ?

I'll just have to stop going through such narrow spaces I suppose
Did that on my Z750 - Ended up having to get a new Master Cylinder due to breakage.

Still now means I have one off of a naked Curvy

I just cut the ball ends off standard levers, then cut out about an inch or so off the lever, then got a local welding shop to weld the ball back on. After I tidied them up a bit with a file, emery cloth and polish you would be hard put to spot the "bodge" they look so OE.
There is some suggestion that the heat cycle they go through might make them brittle but I've not had a problem yet.....and at a total cost of £10 I'm not exactly bothered.

The ball end acts like a handlebar end weight, it is supposed to help reduce vibrations, as to it legality I do not know.

It was more to do with having a Lever pierce a pedestrian in an impact if you were to collide with one IIRC , harkens back to the 70`s , but I was a nipper then . Around here you weren`t classed as a proper moto crosser unless you had snapped the ball ends of bothe levers within 5 minutes of owning an off roader
