Was about -8 when I set off and our lane was still covered in compressed and frozen snow from yesterday. At least it wasn't windy today, so less of a wind-chill factor. And whilst public transport may not be perfect, it's still warmer than the bike.

Got to go to work in a while and then come home after eight, by then the roads will be pretty nasty if we are in a for a cold snap.

So it is time to dig out the winter walking gear...

I wont look like too much of a pillock on the way to work today!

Well when I left home for work it was -3 and I had to sit in the car and wait for it to warm up and clear the ice off the windscreen as I can't be bothered to scrape or de-ice it. It was a bit cold waiting there so I put my heated seats on.

Had some minor issues getting out of the street as my car is rear wheel drive and lost traction very very easily so I has to push the 'Snow' button which sorted that out.

Then inside temperature was unable to reach my specified 30 degrees by the time I got to work.

And to top it all off the heater at work which I had set to turn on 15 minutes before I get here hasn't even heated the warehouse up yet!!!

Its just awful.

The drawback of my 15 second commute from bedroom to office is that my feet got a little chilly.

Mind you, we had real winters when I were a lass...

The snow would start to fall in July and by January, it were four mile thick!

We used to oopen ta door in tha morning and find frozen a Bluetit stuck to tha milk bottles.

Eye, we were poor, but we were 'appy. There were 'undred an five of us 'uddled in shack under ah sack for warmth. Mother would get up two hours before she went to bed and get the Aga goin with the snapped off icicles that formed on gran-mothers nose.

Then Fahver would cut us in two with bread Knife an dance on our graves singing hallelujah...

Kids today... They don't know there are born.

When I got up it was -6, so offered Mr Lou a lift to work (he's usually on his CG).
I have to honestly say that I've never seen him so quick to get out of bed knowing there was a lift to be had!!

Wasn't a bad run in on the bike, except the bit over the burst water main. That was a little slidey, if I'm honest.
