No chance of a new customer Honda. Yamaha spending all their cash on Rossi!
Maybe Suzuki can pony up a spare and maybe even Ducati if money is on the table. Melandri on a Ducati for another year!!!!!! ![]() Technically, the Kwaks are ready to go if money is there but I would say that any form of development has been finished and so the bikes will be dogs. No point riding them to come last. Unless another rider is binned ie Colin Edwards or one of the Pramac boys...or a big bag of cash is found then it is WSB or a years holiday for Hopper and Melandri. |

Indeed.I reckon Suzuki could be the next team to scale down their Motogp involvement.Very little chance of winning much so why spend money they cant afford?

![]() If Honda were to pull out it would all but kill the class, and there are probably numerous financial reasons for them to do so, even if they are winning, which they're not. Out of interest Basket, why are further customer Hondas out of the question? Some kind of rule? |

Suzuki Have had some race success which makes the difference.
Walking away from MotoGP doesn't make you look good...especially when you're losing...And if Suzuki want to keep looking cutting edge then they have to stay in. There was talk of Ben Spies on a third Suzuki so the ability was there but maybe now not the money. Honda has made it perfectly clear that it is not able to field extra bikes, upping its participation from six bikes to seven in MotoGP. Huge effort. Last edited by The Basket; 10-01-09 at 05:10 PM. |

imo this is just the start of firms cutting back i expect to see more firms in the car/bike industries quitting motorsport till times get better.

Odd thing that MotoGP and the cost of MotoGP is that they are one off prototypes using the latest technology.
The moment you stop development is when you pull the plug and make WSB the premier class. I bet that idea...some sort of WSB/MotoGP hybrid is what the accountants would love. A cheap and nasty way to get more riders is that each rider has a spare bike. How about one the teams giving up a spare and allowing Melandri a go instead? This means, however, that one big crash and that is yer lot. Team Scot is supposedly thinking that one. |

tbh i'd rather them pull out and spend the saved money on some thicker paint and better quality bolts and fasteners suit me fine.

I didn't know about that, that's a shame. I like watching AMA, not just to see Hodgson obviously, but it's cool that he's there. Or was. Aren't too many British World champions racing bikes these days.
