I did paris this summer and its great when the sun is shining. Nothing made me feel as cool and prattish at the same time as reading a book in the tuileries in blazing sunshine. They have nice cakes there too ![]() |

Well good news, we managed to sort the dates out etc and got it booked.
![]() We're staying here http://www.lambtonhoundsinn.com/ and it's only costing £100 for the room on a B&B basis for 3 nights. ![]()

Ahh Pity Me. Your about 3 miles down the road from me. The little village itself probably will not keep you interested too long.
Close by you have M and S motorcycles (Honda dealer, with a few Triumphs and second hand bikes too as well as a parts garage and clothing). ACE training also is good for general MC work (tyres etc). Your close to a large trading estate so that road (Front Street) can get busy so ask if you can have a room facing the other way if possible. On the trading estate you have a large Boots (just in case GF forgets shampoo etc), Halfords and Sainsbury’s (and a MarknSparks extra shop just in case you fancy getting a picnic before a day out) . The Sainsbury’s is by far the cheapest petrol too. Finchale Abby is just down the road. That’s worth at least half a day. Its just passed Durham prison (think its the highest security one in the UK). As with most of Durham/Northumberland you are spoilt for walks etc but if you would like to know any more about Durham/Newcastle (give Sunderland the widest berth possible.....there is a reason why we call them 'the great unwashed'; ) ) just PM me. My areas of speciality are pubs, food and bike rides….anything like places to get your hair done and shopping will go via wor lass!!! |

The Abbey sounds like it might be a good option too. Do you know if there are any good places to eat in Pity Me? I've booked us into the resteraunt on the day we arrive, as it will probably be about 7 before we arrive, but options would be good for the other couple of nights.

I have never eaten in Pity Me. It’s the type of place I just do the shopping in or drive by on the way to Durham.
Durham itself will only take a max of 10mins by bus (rather frequent) or about a 5 quid by taxi. There you will have a lot to choose from. If you are there over a weekend then Durham can be a bit 'lively' on a Friday and Saturday nights and booking a table would be recommended. Other times your are ok with just popping into where ever takes your fancy. Decent food in Durham http://www.fatbuddharestaurant.com/durham/index.htm Wor lass likes a Spanish restaurant that I can remember but it is close to FAT BUDDHA Any of the three curry houses are good but I think the best in the area (not Durham but Chester -Le Street) is the Himalayan. Pubs/drinks in Durham: I don’t know your age/preferences but any of these should be ok whatever you like Market Tavern (funnily enough in the market square) Swan and 3 (Elvet Bridge). The weatherspoons (other in same block including the fat buddha )....only the weatherspoons close to the bowling ally/river off Claypath street) Avoid the other one next to the bus station. Many other pubs but those above are middle of the road. If you like quieter go to pubs like the Dun Cow...more life try varsity etc. Very good pub called Beamish Mary (close to Beamish…dooh). Some bikers turn up and food was (not been for 2 years or so) very good. Home cooked type of pub food. Any other questions....just ask....what month are you up? |
