Nice one Rob! Glad to see you're back on two wheels!

Is it going to be tucked up in the garage for the rest of the winter or are you going to get it mucky?

Ill be out through the winter if its dry and not too cold! Ive heard the tyres that are on arent that hot (OE Dunlop D221s) in the wet so ill have to see what theyre like when I get them. If theyre that bad, rather than waiting for them to wear ill get them swapped for a set of PRIIs and keep them in the garage or flog them on.

The guy in the mirror is the guy who owns the shop not me!

I might just join you lot on the rideout, but need to get out a few times to get a bit of confidence back. Ill be fifty pencing around corners for some time I would imagine.

Rob I had the D220's on my SV when I bought it, and (dunno why) got another set when they needed changing.

Currently using Dunlop D208's and they are sooooo much better. (You may recall the pucture up Hartside when said NEW D208 only had about 120 miles on it !!!!!!!!!). A much sportier and stickier tyre. The latest (or one before last) Two Wheels only magazine ran an article about tyres in the wet. I can't remember if it was MacKenzie or Whitham who was the tester, but the Dunlop SPORTMAX apparently ticked all the right boxes, coming out on top over Pirellis/Mettz's/Michelin etc.

I still have the magazine if you want the article.

yeah Graeme, these are D221s so I think different to the ones you had. I think the new ones might be dual compound? Ill definitely be looking for some 2CTs next.

I might be heading out Tuesday (looks like there's a gap in the weather) if you've got it by then.

Gentle pootle, no knee scratching.

When you find the article can you let us know which Sportmax they mean. Just about every road tyre made by Dunlop has the name Sportmax on it - some are great but some, like the D220, are utter sh1te.

Carl, dont pick it up until Saturday, needs servicing and Im at work all week. I think ill be pootling by myself for a couple of rides just to regain some confidence, but I shouldnt think itll be too long before im happy to be amongst the pack once again.
I think my days of hooning are over, quite frankly Ive probably lost the bottle for it and i've had a taste of what can happen. I enjoy riding too much to lose it for good so I'm looking to enjoy it responsibly from here on in.
