I did something similar in my car even though I'm a confident driver doing some track training was amazing, I'm super confident now
Doesn't mean your a wimp. We're all aware of the perils of riding fast on the roads, just depends if you're nuts or not. There's a difference between riding slow and riding slow because you're not confident though. Practise practise.

Its a good habit to get into as it gives you more control over the bike when cornering. More feel as well.

Not so much of problem in a straight line , but I have convinced myself my feet won't get as wet as fast and they will be warmer , all tucked in! Who knows!?

Take your time , put the miles in. Enjoy!

How do others find it?

Also, what about emergency stops? I do wonder how quickly I could get my right foot into position.

Thanks
I have never ridden with the balls of my feet on the footpegs I think it's a racing thing? like you say how are you going to do an emergency stop?

You only really need to do this if you are getting the bike cranked right over. I don't normally bother and just ride the lazy way with arch of foot on the peg. Only on track days or spirited rides have I ever scraped my toe and then you instinctivly pull it back a bit anyway. if you are trying to get your knee down then yes of course it matters but for all but hard cornering I'd say it doesn't make a difference really.

Ride in a position you find comfortable, that is the main thing to be concerned about.

I found that once I started putting the balls of my feet on the pegs I had more control of the bike in corners - I could never go back resting on the arches now.

Wait a minute, when we say 'balls of your feet" which bit are we talking about (sorry this is going to be another dave20046 moment) the heel ball or the ball (kind of) before your toes?

No questions about my funny shaped feet

The toes...that end of your foot

So you have to move the whole foot forwards to change gear/use rear brake. Can't ride any other way now, feels horrible to do so.

Ahh that's reassuring I thought you guys were talking about your heels but I remember shortly before my crash (unrelated!..I think) I'd taken to putting the balls of my feet on the pegs for corners.

I was just thinking you lot must have small feet!

I always ride with the (toe end) balls of my feet on the pegs as it's easier to tuck in etc, but more difficult to brake/change gear...purely because you have to move your leg/foot/balance more. I see lots of people with their heel (ball) on the pegs but doesn't feel right to me.

Then again, when it was pouring down the other day, I had my toes on the pegs and was shifting about a bit and my feet slipped off....that was a wobbly moment!
