I used to be a "slacker" as you put it. I had an amazing time, going out EVERY night, uni during the day, work in the evening. Then when I finished uni, I had 2 jobs and still partied every night.

Nowadays however, I have to plan a night out so I can be prepared for the hangover and sleep deprivation!!

I'm on Facebook and use it as a means to keep in touch with friends. Many of whom were lost to the past but I have gotten back in touch with through Facebook.

I can't see why anyone would start feeling inferior about their own life because they see other people's activities on it?... I mean c'mon... get a grip.

Facebook is just for posting the fun stuff about your life so your friends can know what youv'e been up to and enjoy it too. (The fact that I post the not so fun stuff as well just makes me a sad no-lifer. )

Now im circa 24 in a good job etc etc very happy with life thank you in the whole....

I partied I had a good time but that was at school years ago., but now I work full time and enjoy the other bits and Pieces I do and party (yea haaa) when I get the chance...

so this leads me onto the valid and thoughtful question..

Is it me or are the all slackers...?

how do they maintain that sort of lifestyle..?

Should I quit it all and become a slacker..?

What advantages does "slacking" have...?

is it cost effective being a slacker?

right... must go and buy some Nytol...
Well facebook is a funny one and I know many who are obsessed with it, e.g. a girl I know has posted over two thousand pictures of herself, and she collects friends like I do nectar points, having probably said no more than two words to the people she has listed as friends!

Many generation Yers live their lives through it, documenting their every thought and activity. To be honest it's false environment and I see it as a form of self promotion employed in order build an identity that has little basis in reality.

400-600 online 'friends'? I'd rather spend my time with my 10-15 REAL friends. Most of whom, I've known for over 20 years. I already know everything I need to know about them and if I want to catch up with them, I won't 'poke' them I'll meet them down the pub or give them a buzz on the phone.

Also everyone I know who is out four nights a week taking pictures of themselves in trendy bars, to tag on facebook in the morning in a bid to appear interesting are up to their eyes in debt and funding their life style through credit and store cards. All reeks of low self esteem and neurosis to me mate so I wouldn't worry about it!

I hope there is backlash against it and people get back to living in the real world and having real relationships with people.

Oh and don't get me started on blackberries or twitter.....

I was reading a similar thread yesterday funnily enough, see here

I'm on facebook for the photos, love looking at other people's and seeing the fab places they've been. It is a bad fuel for procrastination though...

To be honest, half the stuff I do on facebook itself I delete from the profile. Then I'm just there to chat to folks usually, but it is handy for showing off pics of the kids.
