Not going to go into the "how horrible" thing (tho it is)

instead, just going to say good luck and hope it works out.

Googd luck mate,I went through a similar situation in the early 80's and my bank was no help, infact they pulled the rug out from under my feet. As for the overqualified bit,I had exactly the same responses as yourself. Look on the bright side, at least
you have rid yourself of everything that leads to a heart attack[Hours and worry]
I had the ensuing heart attack through working through it all but on reflection I would have been better to have folded the business.
Something will come up---all the best

That's a bummer, very sorry to hear about it, and I sincerely hope that you get a job soon.

PS. Banks are all, and without exception, *****. But you knew that already.

What might particularly annoy one right now is that it's your tax money they're being ***** with.

Sorry to hear this mate. It's Sh*t how small businesses are suffering in this country at the hands of the banks and bigger companies. It's about time the government did something to help people who run small businesses. Trouble is that we're living in a 'dog eat dog' money grabing society that doesn't seem to care anymore.
Look to the future with hope. You sound as though you have a lot to offer an employer. Good luck mate.

Carl - I'm self employed. I can understand how you feel - there are days when I think 'why do I bother' and getting paid is so, so hard. But you strike me as resilient and I'm sure that you will come through this.

Carl,

Sorry to hear this, as for the chemical industry at the moment, Teesside is going through a bad time, a couple of plants have/are being shut down so I doubt there is much going up there at the moment. I have a builder friend who may have some labouring going up in Kirkby Malzeard (although I'm unsure and think the rates may be rubbish) give me a pm if you want me to ask. Will you still be doing fly fishing tuition later in the year?

That's just rotten. But you don't sound like the giving up type to me... Have you tried temporary work agencies? I don't know anything about your industry, but with us temping is currently going great guns, we literally couldn't fill our temp slots as the agency was "out of stock". The reason being, nobody wants to take on permanent staff just now... But it can be a foot in the door sometimes.
