let the iProduct megathread commence lol... I'm not your average "ooh it's shiny, I want one of those" iUsers. I use windows xp pro for all my computing tasks including video editing, tonnes of photoshop, corel draw and running a cutter. I've had nokia's in the past and as they became more advanced, they also took minutes to turn on/reboot, battery life was around 5 hours if using the phone as it was intended to be used etc... (don't get me started on the n90)

the iphone does lack in some area's such as the quality of the lens and sensor (not bothered about it being 2 megapixel because only people who don't understand what megapixel's are, go on about it only being 2mp).

It doesn't have video. I'm not sure what apple were thinking or whether it really would have impacted on its features in other area's but they missed the line with video.

It doesn't have picture messaging which seems odd at first but I can see that apple are trying to sway people away from MMS, which is becoming quite 'old' technology now, especially when you've got 3g full email capability to email photo's etc.... If everyone moves across to email based messaging, you can get alot more than 160 characters into a message, so it won't matter whether you're on a blackberry, smartphone, iphone etc, you can all email each other.

There are a few things which would have made sense, like being able to use the 3g capability connected to a laptop for on the move PC/mac internet access. Apple have their reasons for not doing this and I'm not too fussed about - yet.

Also, everyone goes on about apple being the great big evil dictator corporation, but my 'needs' are satisfied

I think the above cons are just a spec on the pro's, and since I'm "on the road" alot, the features of the iphone are exactly what I've needed for quite a while.

For an average user who only text's, checks facebook 15 times every 3 seconds and uses the ipod facility on the way to uni, there probably are better/more suited phones out there - but often they're not technically informed about 3g, gprs, edge, push/fetch etc. so it's just a shiny product with a bit of fruit on it, so it must be cool?

Anywho, it suits me down to the ground

Nope you can do that with Exchange 2007 now as well and then you dont need to shell out on extra hardware in order to integrate your blackberry system with your exchange environment. It'll work with any device as long as it has a mail client installed on it, so you arent limited to only a few types of handset as you are with a blackberry either and its built into exchange so its free.

Its called Outlook Web Access, means you can access your email from any web browser. It comes with exchange and its free.

Microsoft is evil in ways that make Apple look saintly........

Everyone goes on about the conspiracy theories where car manufacturers/oil companies went round and bought/silenced various innovations to improve efficiency etc.

With Microsoft there is a trail of "bodies" of fallen tech companies and technologies, not to mention that its a company founded on lies and theft.

Oh and check out the Google Android Platform - the G1 phone - for an Open source alternative (not that I would have one - I dont trust Google either :P)
