Nice bikes. Less midrange than the triple motors apparantly, but I would have one. Especially in black with extra black bits.

same chassis as the tt600, so neutral, it's a peach, love the style, in ten years time you'll have to walk up to any of todays jap 6's to find out which they are, not so the triumph, it'll out perform most of the 6's in the real world, much better mid range.

Triumph can't and don't really play the numbers game like the big four, but then how many of us are good enough to make any use of that 1-2 hp over last years model

*Of course you can't beat cubes, you want a proper triumph

Cheers Mark.

oh yes, shame about the "happy little wasp" face though, and the fact that the guy who had the key to the draw with all the curves in it was on holiday when they designed it

didn't Ed have one before his 675? **edit: yes he did**

BIKE did a "used buyers guide" section on the 650 a while back, iirc they had a few problems and never quite matched the jap bikes of the same years in technical ability, but being a tiumph they're off the scale when it comes to character

Jamie Whitham used them on that superbike school programme on men and motors so they are capable machines, less power than the modern crop of 600's yea but most modest day to day riders wouldn't notice the minuscule lack in power.

i dug up the old mag before coming to work, general idea was that it had a great chassis but was let down by the engine

Did somebody call?

Here's my old 650:

Nice bike but I fell out of love with it. One of those completely inexplicable things but it has something to do with a low speed spill down at Ludlow when I pressed the ejector seat button by mistake. Actually I turned left a bit too quick and the bike didn't like it, although to this day I don't really know what I did wrong...

I never noticed the slow steering which Mike has commented on up top. It handled well, went like stink, made a nice noise, and looked stunning.

Mate at work has one, loves it.
I rode it for only a few miles, but it felt v. good
I think they only come in yellow and red, the 600's are silver, maybe the black one was a 600 as well.
Ride magazine has asked him for a small review which they would use for an article (November or December issue), PM me your email I can send it to you if you want.
