Personally no I think the buckled wheel was going to far, but its easy for me to say that as I wasnt the one thats just been ridden into...

I've often found that some people you just cant reason with and anybody that rides the wrong way down a one way street in the dark with no lights on falls into that category...

He was on the floor & you were still standing, I'm guessing he's feeling some pain as well as financial plus the long walk home

possibly +1, but I thought Paul was considering if he should have done more

lol nah cyclists aren't the sort. Worst you'll get is a mean lashing with a hand pump, a thoroughly shook fist, a squirt with a water bottle or if they are feeling particularly hacked off somesort of insult as they cycle off swiftly.

i'm not talking serious violence lol, maybe waggling a bit of melon in his face or throwing a bottle of water at him? What other fitting punishments can you think of?

Personally I think they should have to have insurance, and should be made to wear a helmet, and should really have to have a license which is subject to points in a similar fashion to a driving license, and can have fines handed out for misbehaving. This way, the government would generate more, other road users would actually be able to claim when a cyclist does something retarded.

Over the winter, a woman in a 4x4 splattered a cyclist on the by-pass near where I live. So the story goes, his daily exercise was to ride home from work a few miles along the by-pass with no lights on, or protective gear. He'd been doing this for years, and had previously been knocked off, yet that wasn't lesson enough. She's being done for it. In my opinion, she should be able to claim for damage to her vehicle and for the stress and trauma it has put her and probably her family through. She may be lucky if she ever gets behind the wheel of a car again.

Should you have done more... Difficult one really. Did you look both ways? Yep, I know, it was a one way street, but, I guarantee you, every day I step outside my house, I encounter someone stupid. I think you probably did enough to make him think twice.

Just think though, if he had insurance and you'd not attacked him, you'd be looking forward to a nice healthy cheque.
