I think a good manager is someone who makes sure you get the work done but also gives you enough space to get on with things, trusts you enough to get the work done (especially when you are not "checking in" in the same office) and helps you grow developmentally as a person. Also, they should be there for you in times of need. i.e. helping you resolve issues / conflict you have with other colleauges in an unbiased and professional manner.

I think good bosses you get on with very well are extremely rare and hard to come by. Im thankful that my boss is a good one. She was there for me when my grandad died (told me to go home when I was at work!) and encouraged me (& helped) to apply for new jobs when my contract was in jepordy due to funding problems. Luckily she pulled out all the stops and I was able to stay on (even though I got offered a diff job elsewhere).

i know the ban account will dry at some point so im going to do some odd jobs n the side for some cash and that. also family will always help untill i get into the raf, just had my date it today for next one, its next thurs fitness and medical should go ok.

Can you pass the RAF fitness test if you are off sick from the other job,or left cos they wouldnt pay sick pay?Will you need a reference from them before final acceptance into the RAF?

i have told the carrers office and they told me its fine, i told them i was going to leave in the interview anyway and got through that ok, so i should be ok. hopefully
