Check that out for a quick run down of what I think of the Gladius.

I am sad to see the SV go, but lets face it. It needed a refresh.

Any questions about the Gladys just shout

I don't agree. I think the naked SV is a very good looking bike, it has taken me a whole year to come to that view, having bought the last 08 model in black in March last year. Good looking and runs fantastic. I have compared it with quite a few naked bikes, recently saw the Gladius and a honda CBsomething at the Ally Pally and I came to the conclusion that I much prefer my SV. I am still exstatic about the fact I've got one of the last ones and the black frame is just beautiful.

I'm not saying the SV is a bad looking bike - it's just out dated

It is a retro bike and was designed to be one. Some people like the bike because of it. There is nothing else that looks like it. The newer ones don't even have round headlights anymore. They're going the sportsbike way in that all bikes look the same!

You come out with some statements as if you know best. It's not really conducive for us to go and read MCN is it now. Anyway outdated it is as you say so and you are clearly an authority.

Maybe it's trying to look something like this?..

...notice any similarities?

I don't type statements as if I know best. Everything in this thread that I have written is my opinion having ridden the SV back-to-back with the Gladius.

And I'm in no way slagging the SV off for looking how it does - If i thought it looked pants I wouldn't have bought one.

I don't think the naked SV is retro - just outdated in terms of looks - all other middleweight nakeds now have funky headlights and mostly ugly exhausts.

I'll run with that. I still like the looks (prefer them to the gladius ATM) but the suspension isnt great in terms of performance, and the same goes for the brakes. From the sounds of things, the gladius has a much-updated engine (smoother) which i would personally welcome in my SV chassis.

I don't think the fact that it's outdated is an opinion, but a fact.

Out-dated doesn't mean it looks poo - it just means that all the new bikes have gone in a different direction styling wise.

I like the looks of my SV (pointy naked) because it looks out-dated and compared to the Gladius it looks quite brutish.

The media suffers from 'must have newest model syndrome'.

I wonder who invents all these ugly exhausts.
