I've had it almost a month out before and it tasted a bit off and made me have a bit of a squirmy gut

Why does it need to be nearly out of date?
Cheap lager's usually 50-65p a tin anyhoo.

Used to go to a pub where nearly all the beers were past their sell-by, like a good wine, good beer (bottled) matures nicely. Stronger! Just what you need when its 8 or 9 % already!

Watchin Oz Clake and James May's drinking round Britain prog, they were drinking really old beer, from Queen Victoria's era I think

It didn't kill them, although it it didn't taste great, although it was probably down to the recipie.

s'funny how we go by the sell by / drink by dates but beer should last for ages. What happed before the introduction of these dates.

Accounts for a lot of wastage me thinks

I have here, a bottle of thomas hardys ale (strongest beer in britain) that I bought in 1988.
It says on the bottle that its flavour will improve if stored and it will last for 25 years.
Not sure how this applies to lager though.
25 years? 1988?
Phew should be all right for another 4 years at least...

Are you actually going to drink it? I'd laugh if it tasted like sh*t after 25 years of waiting

Bought a few bottles. Drank some straight away and they tasted pretty awful
Drank another 2 after ten years and it was better but still grim but relly strong.
I must have drank some more later but I cant remember doing it.......
I'm too frightened to drink the others......
