Got the same with mine, its just noticeable applying the front brake & moving the bike back & forth. I checked it with the brake off & the brake disc "just moves".
I mentioned this to the tester when it got its first MOT 2 weeks ago,its ok he said, "loads of SV,s like this & can be confused with headstock bearings, take a look at others"
A trip up to Newcastle to a large multi make dealership put my mind at rest after "testing" various machines, all SV,s including brand new models had a bit of movement.

That's rubbish (sorry rich), mine move LOADS. I asked a few mechanics that I trust and they all said that is fine. They are called "full floaters" for a reason Only thing is mine move forwards and backwards slightly too apparently that's fine too...

Wouldn't worry about it Dave, mine sound like someone is dropping money when I push it backwards

Stop me like silly quick though

Full Floaters move like that because they vobrate side to side and move the pads off of the brake for normal riding, makes the pads and disc's last a lot longer.

P.S. Ill video it and upload to Youtube in a couple of hours

Hmmm.Didnt think SVs had full floating discs, rather semi floating which means very limited movement. If yours move "loads" Id be inclined to get a second opinion from a well qualified engineer.

a little movement is fine. the discs on my FZR400 race bike had loads of movement, far more than in that YouTube video. They were fine under very heavy braking.

Cheers everyone I'll get a vid uploaded, tried to when I originally noticed it but kept shaking the camera lol. only got a little paranoid after someone on here mentioned there should only be micromillimeters (if that's a measurement) of movement.

Nick that's monster movement. mine are from memory a bit less than that. just to confirm you're moving the disc towards the front of the bike then towards the rear in that vid aren't you? not side to side. wish my sv brakes were better

I was moving them side to side and front to back ha ha. They move all directions

You should get better performance with floaters anyway because the disc pushes the pads away from the disc which means you get no/less friction and heat and wear when not breaking. So it should be like a first brake every brake

Mine move about a lot on the Daytona. I'd go round the discs and move them near each rivet one by one to check none are particularly loose. Then I'd go out and thrash the nuts out of the brakes to get them nice and warm as I'm of the understanding they float to allow expansion when they're hot.

Hope you don't need new ones.
