Ach, in that case, dont bother with A+E! Just run it under cold water, making sure its clean. If u feel u need some sort of dressing then like dizzy says, clingfilm. If not, then just leave it and it will dry up as the blister is already burst.

EDIT....oval 2p size. Is it dry or moist? Can you see any layers of skin or not. Listen to Dizzyblondes advice as it'll not need A&E unless it is a really deep burn.

seriously run it under cold water. If its a large area, cover it in clingfilm. Germs can't get in then.
Edit...small area on your arm won't hurt either.
Totally agree unless it is drying out in which case, like I said, antiseptic cream is the best option to be applied and dressed until it can be seen to.

I would have suggested cling film, but was told that was for more serious burns, in which case, I've just advised to go to A&E...but hey.....like I said, I'm not nurse, just going from memory of what my aunt said.

ALso liek never taking clothing off with some burns due to likelihood of taking skin with it.....eeewww!

EDIT: I am actually thinking my aunt said it was only a certain type of cream or gel that could be applied now. I think I need a refresher!

Professional opinion is always better than forum advice. Hence me saying A&E.

The skin has probably come off because you put ice (rice) on it.

Antiseptic solution on cotton wool, dab on (it will sting), don't rub. Then dry dressing, because the underlying skin will weep overnight.

The thing about applying cream, is that you can actually complicate things if you to go to A&E and be treated. Never use anything to wrap a burn that is wooly i'e cotton wool, which is why we were advised to go for clingfilm, as its like a second skin and stops germs getting in, just don't use the first bit on the roll as its been touched before.

I'm just going on what the First Aid instructor advised us when we did it for work.
I'm just waiting for confirmation for the course to use the zappers!!!

See my original post in this thread.

Hospitals have an A&E department staffed 24/7 for a reason.

Well, as I said in my post before I edited it, no cream or anything on a moist burn. as it's smaller than the palm of your hand though, no need for A&E, but you do need to protect it as warmth and moisture is a breeding ground for bacteria and infection.

So.......wrap it in cling film and get it checked by your doctor just to be on the safe side.

How did it happen?
