Tsk. All these people who cook in pounds and ounces. Metric is so much easier - as long as you can count in 10s, mind that might be asking too much I spose....

Can someone please tell me, when did you last buy 8oz of butter or a pound of flour?

I don't think I ever have.....but that's how I measure them when I get home. I didn't learn to cook from books, I learned from old family recipes, hence pounds and ounces. Oh, I can cook in cup measurements as well from living in the states. It's all easy enough to convert!

So make the chocolate cake mix in individual paper cases, when they're cool, poke them with a cocktail sick a few times, spoon some rasberry juice on them, top with whipped cream and fresh rasberries and there you go!

There's always a way around something!

I was going to suggest that all you need is granulated sugar, butter and plain flour

Or you could make chocolate coated cornflakes?

Or fairy cakes?

I just ate an amazing chocloate cake

Made a chocolate cake using a whole block of Cacao from that Willie Wonka's Chocolate bloke off the telly. It's £7.00 a block, but the cake is sooooooooo good it's just not true! Served with orange and mango ice cream from Dunham Massey farm, just B-E-A-utiful.
Ridiculously simple, jus melt the cacao with a block of butter, add 175 grammes of caster sugar and 100g of ground almonds, whisk six free range eggs, beat into mixture and bake for 25 minutes at 160 celcius.

Looks like this;

Pete - now feeling fat and full on the sofa

Red face Re: Simple (and I mean simple) Cake to make?

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE

4 tablespoons flour

4 tablespoons sugar

2 tablespoons cocoa

1 egg

3 tablespoons milk

3 tablespoons oil

3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)

a small splash of vanilla extract

1 large coffee mug

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again.

Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts (high). The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.

EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).

And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world? Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!
