When was the last time she had her eyes tested? She doesn't necessarily need someone to trust with this but YOU sound like you need someone that you could trust to talk to her and convince her to go and seek fuerther medical advice. |

This is not a scare story and the symptoms were very different, but one of my cousins, same age as me started having really bad headaches regularly, vision blurred and sometimes gone completely. She had a benign brain tumor. Put on meds, no need to ever operate and she is absolutely fine and has been the last 17 years since she found out. She's now 30. If she hadn't been diagnosed, it would have continued to grow and would have caused further problems, but as it is, one trip to the doctors, a few tests and a scan and she was given meds that mean she's safe and healthy again. I'm not saying this to scare you AT ALL as more often than not, there is nothing serious wrong, just always worth getting checked I think and a doctor will be able to refer her to a counsellor if need be to deal with the anxiety attacks. For anyone who reads my posts or threads regularly who thinks I have ill female cousins coming out of my ears......just to clear up as I just had a message saying I must be making up cousins here it is. Myself and two other cousins, Elly and Emily were born within a few months of eachother. Emily was found to have the brain tumor at 13 and is fine. Elly had a brain haemorrage at 14 and died. Then three years ago another female cousin, Ellen who was 16 at the time died of heart failure through anorexia. I'm not after sympathy......but after that message saying I'm making cousins up, I just wanted to get it straight. My family has had these and quite a few other tragedies so I guess I can see why the sender of the message thought it excessive but what can I say? My family has had a long run of bad luck. We're the closest, happiest family you could know though and if I mention anything that's happened as I have above, it is only because I am trying to help. Cheryl Edit.....I know, Emily, Elly and Ellen.........even my family get confused...lol Last edited by gruntygiggles; 10-04-09 at 10:19 PM. |

I'm sure it's the stress of getting stressed and having an anxiety attack that's causing your gf to have more as it can be a vicious circle. The only other thing I will say regarding talking to her parents is that I think you just have to judge how serious you think this is. If you believe that she is risking getting ill, hurting herself or having an accident because of these dizzy spells (like driving and having one), you need to weigh up what is more important. You can let it go and she will be happy with you for not pushing her. OR, you can tell her parents so that you can all help her and risk her getting ver angry and upset with you.....but getting something done about it. I wouldn't want to go behind her back to discuss this with her parents, but if I thought someone I cared about was at risk, I would rather have them safe and hate me than the possible alternative. If you did this, she'd realise you only had her best interests at heart eventually. |

I understand that but how much of a **** would you feel if something was seriously wrong and you didn't do anything about it. Not trying to scare you but you have to think seriously and it would put your mind at ease as well i'm sure. |

if there is any doubt and i mean ANY about brain haemorrhages or tumers, get her to a GP pronto...
symptoms my wife had before she had a brain haemorrhage... dizzy spells, bouts of depression followed by euphoria, megrains, weight gain, high blood pressure to name a few. believe me it was the scariest thing i have ever encountered... not to mention the 6 months in hospital. |
