it wont let me do this. It lets me do everything but restore and go on internet. Im going to get some discs and see if I can get all my photos off. Got loads of Libby on there, will be gutted if I lose them. Mentalnote to self - back up more often.

Is the program called antivirus 360 or something similar?

My friend's laptop has the same symptoms. It even brings up a fake error message when you try to close it, then 'resets' windows, bringing up a fake loading screen with 'your copy of antivirus 360 is a trial' then demands $36 to remove the spyware.

If you can't boot into windoze burn a rescue disc on another system & boot from it. If you can, save any data you want to keep before running these & make sure it's clean.

There's others but here's Avira's (if configured properly it's one of the best free av's imo) http://www.free-av.com/en/products/1...ue_system.html.

If you have a boot sector virus there's tools for removal of that as well, eg http://www.free-av.com/en/tools/9/av...pair_tool.html.

Ideally, I just remove the hd & whack it in a sys running a virtual OS so that I can save any data & clean up from there (& trash the os afterwards); but sometimes the rescue discs & boot sector tools are really handy. There's others if you have a search.
