Congratulation mate,
Its proof that there is jobs out there, me leaving at work has sent shockwaves out. I work in construction and there is a massive opinion generally in the sector that there are no jobs about at the moment. Now everyone is looking and applying for jobs at work. Glad I was a motivator ![]()

well done chap.
did some door to door stuff years ago. biggest thing to get your head round is that when they're saying no, they're not saying no to you. just what you represent. ie, it's a professional rejection, not a personal one. |

Upon advice from various bods, and that my current work have made me a very good offer over the next few months, I have decided not to take my new job and stay put where I am.
I handed my notice in week before last week and all over that weekend I was pondering whether all the work I had done and the distance I had gone over the past 3 years, was worth wasting. No, was the basic answer. Anyway, I walked in to the office managers office on Monday and aired some real thoughts and discrepancies that I had, we talked money and benefits...A bonus that was revoked last month (£300), he authorised but never knew it had been revoked. He is getting me that back this month, we are going to talk more about my wages towards the end of the month and hopefully raise me by £200. Company car within the next few months also. He then asked me to go down to the boss's office with him, we told him the decisions and agreements we had made and also discussed my thoughts and problems. After all that, I certainly felt a lot better. I was told that I am going to be going in for my CF1,2 and 3 this year and that they want me to pass these, as soon as I have got them out of the way, I will be on much better money £22k+. They're words were, "Now Stu, we're glad you are staying, we've layed the cake on the table and are holding the knife, but we want you to create the motion. The only person who can pan out your future is you, we are willing to discuss pay etc but you have got to meet us halfway". I have been told to get some organisation with the work I am doing and use my time that I have free to do practice papers and revision. Like I say the various advice from people (not only on here), swayed me away from the marketing door to door job and the fact that I had no guarantee on salary in the end, I have too many liabilities to meet, so that was not ideal. Over the past week, I have actually enjoyed work and feel like I am in a new job. Things have become easier, and the new organisation seems to work well with me ![]() |
