I had a few years break from bikes. Get some training at your local bike school and/or bikesafe course. Very rewarding and fun - money well spent.

Well, my OH came back early today so as we had an hour spare it meant I could go and pick up my new bike tonight instead (luckily Ins and Tax was already done) so after spending 30 minutes trying on leathers that they had ordered in for me but didn't fit...ggrrrr! I managed to get some kit that was just hung up in the shop that was a perfect size (although have to get the zip altered so they can join up!)

Anyway, came home on it and have had a short run (to stick some petrol in ) and it is FAB! Can't believe I have waited this long to get a bike again, glad I went for something sensible though as it has more than enough oomph for me right now.

I was considering a refresher course actually so may still look into this but for now I am going to thoroughly enjoy the hot and sunny weekend and have a few ride outs!

Great feeling kicking yourself while smiling and riding a bike isnt it, lol.

And refresher courses can be great things, even if all they do is tell you that you're actulally still pretty good but just need to do x or y a bit more.

Just remember when attacking corners its "in like a kitten, out like a tiger"

Very nice! All you need now is a Fenda extenda... then perhaps a can and a tail tidy :P

Unless you want to join the snow-plough brigade..

Welcome! Kent eh? conviniently located to join us on the annual rideout! Dont worry - its not ment to be a fast-paced ride, last year it was very enjoyable and is more about a bunch of people just riding in some fantastic scenery down fantasitc roads, then having a fantastic bbq and fantastic banter afterwards

Very nice SV BTW! Get some crash bungs on it as soon as you can and consider a front mudgaurd extension, just incase you get caught out in the rain (its a well documented problem that water spray can flick up and get the front spark-plug wet, turing your bike into a single cylinder machine...)

Spiderman, that advice is what Baph told me, it works very well

Matt

Fenda extender ordered (hope I can glue it though as really do not want to be sticking screws through the guard just yet!!!)

Want some of the R&G bungs but v nervous about having to take that central engine bolt out, not v technically minded)

As for anything else probably going to leave as is, figure it will be easier to sell on in a year or so if I have left things fairly standard

Yea, good call. Maybe in time you can get a bit mroe of an attractive exhaust, and maybe a taller screen (helps with reducing windblast ). I think its ok to take the central engine bolt out, someone will probably be along to advise you shortly Bungs really are a good idea though, especially if you have a fairing. My dad dropped his old gsxr on a ferry, and the bungs saved the fairing.
