They don't work that way

hi guys

thanks for all your replies, i am very grateful. big thanks to joshmac for the pics too as those will be most useful as i am not the best of mechanics around. looking on the cert, it says that Section F : Associated details give the distributor as F. I. Intenational limited so hopefully its just a case of the washer thing that i need to remove.

Cheers All

Yes those are just washers, 20 minutes to get them out.

That's good. As YC says, that'll just be the washers.
Let us know when you've de-castrated it

To get them out is a carb strip down 2hr job and instructions for it are on this forum in the 'how to' section - i've got 6mths left before i can take them out.......cant wait. I had the bike on a dyno @ christmas and it was making 30bhp........overtaking slower moving traffic is hard work....how much I long for 70bhp!!

I wonder what restrictors you have that'll let your bike do 100mph?

My bike is a '99 SV too and pretty much the same mileage.
Poor you my restricted pointy was good for 108mph indicated. It just doesn't make sense a 12hp 125cc can 70mph why would a 30hp bike only be able to do the same?

Something doesn't add up with that bike. Should still rev to the red line

At 6000rpm in 6th mine is indicating 80mph..

Something's off there.. my Z750 had 33bhp and I had 101mph out of that! And it was like 35kg heavier than the SV.

Get it checked out..

Perhaps the gearing has just been altered by a previous owner?
