These stop and go kits are meant to be good. That's what I have. And I got some extra air canisters

tyre weld cans, crap, messy and do not work.
the type in the first link are good, do the jib but are a bit of a phaff, akward and messy. Also although you get 3 plugs there is only enough glue and air for one repair. The other option string things are supposed to be good but very akward to use, i have no experience of these. These are the dogs. very easy 100% effective, 30 seconds to use. I havent used in anger yet but seen them used and had a practice on an old tyre. doddle, cant recommend enough. Demonstration video. HTH Last edited by Kilted Ginger; 22-06-09 at 06:13 AM. |

The glue and plug did work on KG's tyre but only because (a) he was strong enough to force the plug in and (b) because somebody squeezed the side wall and allowed the plug to go in. That turn and go pack looks very good. If it works! But it only has 4 air canisters. The ones KG had barely inflated his 160 rear. |

I've used tyre weld twice
Once it was sucessful, ( small hole caused by a piece of flint ) the 2nd time not so, big slit in my back tyre caused by a piece of metal in the road. The hole was to big and the foam just blew straight out the of it when I tried to inflate the tyre. I carry a rep and air kit under my seat now. I dont trust the tyre weld it only works in a small set of circumstances IMHO.

Sticky string of any variety works for me. I've used the plugs before and had them fail. I have even had the AA use them and have them fail. Never ever seen sticky string fail.

I've just bought the stop and go kit Darren linked but from www.mandp.com using the online voucher code MP0609 which'll give you free postage(/£5 off) up until august.
enjoy while I was there I also bought the £5 chain & closed shackle padlock http://www.mandp.co.uk/productinfo/5...r-Chain-Series Dunno what the quality'll be like (well I do it'll be shoite)but I can add it to the collection.

a solution to the co2 canisters not putting much air in the tyre is to carry a double action mountain bike pump the one i carry is only about 8 inches long and goes under the seat, then after using the co2 canisters ive used the pump takes a while but gets the job done.

I was lucky when I used my puncture kit - pulled in to a Kwikfit in the ****ing rain, they took pity and let me get in out of the rain to do the repair & use their airline. I now always carry extra canisters with me though, just in case.
