The bikes revs to 6K at around 80kph.
Can't see it damaging the enigne doing full throttle runs..

The bike is down at around half its usual power.
Haven't heard of a restricted bike going bang yet because of the speed you ride at.

Its no strain on the engine. Its designed to cope at 10,000 rpm with 70 bhp. It handles easily 8000 rpm and 33 bhp

It'll be fine at 90mph. That's 7000rpm in top IIRC.

When I did Barcelona and back in a couple of days I kept the thing pinned for all 2000 miles (I'm also restricted on an '05 K5).

De-restricted the bike will rev out further so it's no problem.

Great comment, really helpful
So are you saying you've never taken your bike above 70mph? I call bullsh*t I think the smilie's on you..

Hindle, don't worry about keeping it at 90 (as far as the bike's concerned anyway ). Constant speeds for long periods of time shouldn't be a problem unless you're running in the engine as during this period it's good to get a variety of revs.

As has been said, 90mph is not going to strain the engine (top speed of ~124mph IIRC, though it'll indicate 130+).

Just make sure you've got plenty of oil in the tank when you do it.

Side note: All above measurements are in KPH and not MPH obviously.
Wait, you're flat out at about 65mph?

I don't think something will happen to the engine...
I rode on my 100mph with restriction on, on well-warmed bike to check max speed and I couldn't hear any bad sounds....
so be sure everything will be all right...
