The HD was (obviously) not screaming along but was going way too fast for the situation. But then he could hardly pootle along as it would have looked wrong seeing as he was in full unifrom: matt black open face lid, bad ass (is that ok for the swear filter?*) shades, plaid shirt with sleeves rolled to the elbows, brown soft leather finger-less gloves, leather waistcoat, scruffy blue jeans and heavy boots. Did someone say stereotype? As to the no smoke bit - what else can I do at that junction? Ford does not fit radar to Mondeos so I can't possibly see what's coming round a blind bend. As a biker I'm already way more observant and sensible than a lot of cage drivers, I try and be couteous to all, and make progress within the limits of the road and conditions. How many times have we all driven like a proverbial saint (on bike or in car) and still had a wally trying to push us off the raod or shouting at us for no sane reason at all? Oddly you don't get this so much in all locations. I've found either end of my commute to be terrible (High Wycombe and Uxbridge). A nine month assignment I did in Gosport last year was utterly genteel on the roads by comparison and where my paretns live in the middle of Norfolk is similarly laid back. So what's it like for the rest of you? I'm guessing most of the area inside the M25 is terrible but what about other parts of the country?? *sorry Stig!

I ride daily into Leeds and TBH its not so bad, usually get 1 dodgy moment every couple of days and then a ass clenching moment every month or so. Like I said though the dodgy moments are usually my fault, the clenched moments usually car drivers fault.
EDIT: MINI RANT REMOVED, NB. If you ride a bike to work, then you should either filter or move over. Last edited by Owenski; 02-07-09 at 02:47 PM. |

I had one this morning, no bikes involved mind. Some women lines up to cross a two lane road approaching some lights. My lane was clear and I was coming through at about 25 mph just as she decides to make a bolt for it right across my path.
I had to hit the brakes hard but managed to stop right in time for her to give the fingers. Daft cow, how on earth could that have possibly been my fault? |

If we're discussing examples of stupid road users then my favourite would be the dozy idiot who decided that she could use either side of the road on the entrance to a T-junction as she pleased. I was turning into it and didn't see her until it was too late, braked hard and dropped the bike while she just slowly drove around me and headed away. Bizarre.

We actually had a long discussion about this and the general state of driving ability at the weekend, The standards are definately dropping, the more they drop the more enforcement will increase around speeding (as this is clearly the route of all evil and not lack of ability at all" I'm sure we all know some folks that should not be driving / would benefit from further training / advice. I know i do, someone i know regularlly mounts pavements / drives into ditches, reverses into objects or other cars, mainly due to lack of concentration. There seems to be a big attitude of anything goes if you dont get caught, speeding, parking illeagally etc, we may not agree with the rules and their application but by driving we agree to abide by them. there is a local street where people regularlly park on dbl yellows to use bank / local shops when there is a car park 50yds away, this causes mayhem and nmerous /road rage incidents and accidents.

After my recent problems i'm being extra careful and i 100% with the above. I'm coming upto a bus which is coming the other way but parked up getting passengers (not the best place for a stop!). Its completely blocking that side of the road and yes you guessed it, impatient car drivers overtaking the bus on a blind hill!!! Fortunately I'd slowed right down but the car infront nearly collided with the moron coming the other way. Thats just one of afew examples i can think of recently none caused by me ![]() Personally i blame cars getting more advanced, people dont know how to drive them anymore (properly nehoo). |

In the last couple of weeks (especially this one), I've seen reallllllllly bad biking, cycling and cage driving through London and up/down the A23 & M23...well obviously not cycling on that last bit. It's the heat, I swear it...people get all "het up", for want of a better phrase, and lose it 1000x times faster or drop their concentration. I keep a closer than usual eye on older cars that I think won't have aircon

I think there's faults on multiple corners which is all linked back to money saving.
My 1st problem is relaying roads with stones which don't work. The stones just wash away and relay the bits of road which people don't drive over. no matter how good your brakes are it's only as good as the tarmac your braking on. 2nd i agree with the advancement in cars blaming people for more faults. If you check your fluid levels like you had to before sensors then people would see leaks and faults more obviously under the bonnet. This increases peoples lazy attitude towards driving too. 3rd i think most importantly is the lack of training once you've passed your test. Unfortunatley seems to be you only learn once you crash which imo is the wrong mentality to have. At 17 you can jump in and drive what you want thanks to "company insurance". And for people being wrong well, everyone has their right to an opinion but some people don't deserve this right. Really they don't. |

He's on a h*rl*y, of course he's retarded. Give him some slack. Anybody stupid enough to purchase such a prehistoric, underdeveloped, unreliable, ill-handling, agricultural excuse for a motorcycle must obviously have the mental faculties of a sprout.
You are also out at the time of year when all the nuggets come out, ask carnivore about the guy on the ninja on the way back from the Scotland ride. Unfortunately, power rangers also come in chrome. See here; http://www.mcnninjas.co.uk/forum/ind...?topic=15953.0
