Badger was saying with the tank risers the the induction snort was almost unbearable (in a pleasurable way I imagine). Does removing the foam help a lot chris?

It's not the crank on the K3's, they sometimes randomly spit their conrods. It is rare, but does happen.

Dropping it makes no odds, to give the crank and rods the same G forces that they experience at tickover, would probably squash the whole bike to the thickness of a bean tin...

Maybe pointy is different, curvy does not have much room in between top of airbox and tank. Removing the foam gives you another 1/4" of airflow, dunno how much power added?

Ah sorry thoguht I read they had a weak crank. Con rods ain't too expensive right? Or does other damage occur when a conrod goes?
I was just thinking dropping it because it's put the force in the wrong place, I was thinking along the lines of why I got shouted at for using an impact driver on a crank once

Hmmm might experiment with removing the foam....

Con rods are about £500 for a pair of carillos, and the broken end tends to smash the engine cases to bits. so yeah moderately serious...

I should know

On topic, isnt there a sort of mesh in the K3 > down pipe just about where you cut it? there was in mine till i smashed it out, that might silence it a bit.

Same in curvy. It's only round the outside of the pipe anyway so won't make much odds.

Its probably the cam that has caused it to be louder. Do you know what the difference (valve duration, lift, etc) is compared to a standard one?
