RIP Grandma

It's never easy losing someone you love and the big C seems to be more and more prevalent.

Nobbylass did the Race for Life at Aintree racecourse today in memory of a great friend of mine who left behind his wife and three children. One of the nicest men you could ever meet and it was a great tribute to him today that many of his friends and family wore t-shirts with his face on as they did the race.

My step-mum has recently undergone surgery to remove most of her bowel as well as most of her lungs and although she's telling everyone she's going to be fine, two massive operations at her age (77) and the fact that they have only prolonged her life for another 12+ months, makes all around her understand that her wish is to crack on as normal should be respected. By her own admission, she's had a good innings, I just don't know what my Dad (82) will do when he loses his 2nd wife

Harsh to say, but at least the oldies have had a good crack at it, the younger ones leaving family behind etc is harder to deal with IMO.

So sorry for your loss, hope Grandma is smiling down on you.

Sorry to read such a sad tale Nobby and well done your wife on taking part in the Race for Life. My best wishes to your stepmum and dad. I think she`s a very brave woman as a lot of people would have refused all that surgery.... good on her x

Just for MBK

"Those we love remain with us
For love itself lives on,
And cherished memories never fade
Because a loved one's gone.
Those we love can never be
More than a thought apart,
Far as long as there is memory,
They'll live on in the heart."

Remember all the good stuff. Cry, then laugh, with her, through the tears.

She's at peace now. You will find it too.

Hugs xx

Nic, I'm so glad that your nan was able to say goodbye with a smile and leave this world a happy woman. I know how hard it's been for you lately and I have to say this for the benefit of everyone else that reads this.........

I am very proud of MBK......she's a star and she has no idea how strong she is....or give herself anywhere near enough credit for the way she's been dealing with things!

I've said my bit. I wish you, your mum and family the most sincere condolences and I'm relieved for you as well Nic. It really does sound like her last few days with you were very happy ones and you'll be able to hold onto that forever.

Take care of yourself and get your butt down here for a weekend soon xxx
