Well, almost 2 weeks in and the trip has been great so far. Some awesome roads, great scenery and constant sunshine - what more could you ask for. The route has changed and I am just picking a direction/road each morning as I go and riding till 4 or 5pm or whenever I've had enough and then finding somewhere to stay. Right now I'm in Grenoble and think I'll be heading towards Monaco next. Here's a rough outline of my route so far:

Route

If anyone has any suggestions of routes or sights along the way let me know. Will try and post some pictures soon.

If your heading for the south coast youve got to take Route Napoleon (N85), runs from Grenoble all the way to Grasse. Sections of this road are out of this world, especially the further south you get!

Its worth stopping at the Verdon Gorge, near to Castellane, spectacular views.

Theres 4 of us off here heading down that way, setting off tomorrow night. We'll probably be around Antibes/Cannes on Monday/Tuesday. I'll PM you my mob number in case you fancy meeting up for a few hours.

Not 100% yet, but we may be camping at La Rossignol site in Antibes:

Cheers,

Dave.

Looks like a great trip so far, how was the Black Forest? Did you have any of their famous cake?

Are you planning to head up into the Alps and do some of the passes? you could head towards the Col Du Vars etc.

Very cool!

Give us a shout when you're in the neighbourhood (that'll be Porto, Portugal ).

Can't beleive it but the roads and scenery have been getting better and better. Here's my route for the last few days. Went to Turin yesterday but came back to France and currently in Briancon about to start heading south hopefully to meet up with DMC et al. Glad I didn't pre-book any accommodation as it's nice to just ride in any direction until I'm tired and then pick a site that looks good. Stayed in some fantastic campsites so far with stunning views and always cheap! Here's a link to some earlier pictures:

B500 is the must do road for the BF. Best during the week.

If you are taking a more scenic route to the BF rather than m/way, the 48 heads south from Kaiserslatuern/ near Frankenstein (how can you not want to stay a night here!). There is a big bike meet halfway down at Johanniskreuz at the weekends. Beautiful surface and twisties for miles and miles through the forests. More bikes than cars. The Germans never miss a wave.

Rheinfalls (big impressive waterfalls) just over the border in Switzerland is worth a wee touristy trip in a boat too. Near Schaffhausen.

Have a good trip you lucky fella.
