My battery started to struggle when it got to about five years old. Bought an Optimate to which it's hooked up every night now which cured the problem. So, still on the OE battery at nearly ten years old.

Never replaced a battery on my bike, had the SV 3 years, and at 30+k miles and 7 years old I believe it was still on the original.

The GSX-R is still on the original, but then it's only 3 years old and has done less than 6k miles.

My 11 year old VFR is still on the original Yuasa battery. No signs of struggling yet. I use an Optimate to care for it when the bike's in the garage.

it didn't show any signs of stuggeling, just died over a weakend

Is peace of mind is worth £60?

hmmm three years later, and a fair few zaps on the old jumper pack it ain't dead yet...I reckon its on its last legs but it refuses to give up. I use one battery between both bikes, no point having two, waste of money1

as long as it gets through this next couple of weeks, I'll be glad.

Well at 3 1/2 years my battery seems fine and would probably continue on for a good while longer....However that "piece of mind" is worth a great deal.
Especially if you travel alone in remote mountain areas where often there may not be another person for 25 miles in any direction. (sometimes more)

Nice scenery and roads ...but a bad place to have a dead battery.
I'll be putting a new one in before the trip next month.
