I also think they look fantastic...
I sat on one about a year ago, and the tank shape issue was not a problem. Quite comphy in fact.

Nice machine. What's the function of the fans in the tail unit? Are they powered or spun by airflow?

Fans are the radiator fans. The rads mounted under the rear seat, and not in front of the engine. Fans suck the air though and fire the hot air out the back just like a normal rad fan would.
All i need is a bit of fuel, and a light, and hey presto, AfterBurners
