I'd say thats what your problem is.

But double check the oil level again just to make sure. Make sure its on a level bit of ground, Kneel down on the RHS on the bike and hold the RHS bar with your right hand and grab the brake lever. Then grab hold the footpeg with your left hand then you cant lift the bike up right off the sidestand, now because your kneeling down you'll find that the sight glass is at eye level and you can check it easily by yourself that way.

IME to much oil will cause difficulty with finding neutral. I had a similar problem after I was a dumb ass and over filled my curvey SV.

I couldnt find neutral at all with the engine on, the gear lever was stiff as a pig to. The only way I could get neutral with the engine off.

I drained some oil out so that the level was correct ( between the low and high marks ) and it solved my issue.

Its a simple job, just unscrew the oil filter and drain some out that way, is best. But if you do undo the sump bolt only undo it a few turns and watch you dont over tighten it when you do it back up again.

Before you start faffing with the clutch adjustment do the simple stuff first, i.e. oil level and chain tension.
