Linksys do (or did) a net attached storage thingy nicknamed "the slug" - I'll try and dig out the product code for it - that was widely loved by geekdom as the onboard controller could be flashed to make a decent server in the palm of your hand type thingie.

The Slug (NSLU2) was my first thought too, but I don't think it supports printer sharing by default. But there does appear to a whole load of peeps out there tweaking it.
