Can be worse: bird on the back, second gear - straight up to 60, throttle off, *crunch*
2 reasons to dislike v-twins...

Don't be so pessimistic, I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised She knows it's something you enjoy so it's only natural that she wants to be part of it so I reckon she'd come round. Anyway as long as you don't go shooting off into the sunset then brake suddenly all will be well

Two things
A: your not YC
B:your AndyBrad

get on with your riding, take your burd on the back, you can't ride like anyone else but yourself, fair enough people try to say things to guide you the right way, but ultimately you get your own way of riding in the end. I ride for myself, as I can't make head nor tail of what some people try to tell me I should be doing. I've just spent the last three months avoiding other people and taking myself on a rides of a few hundred miles here and there. Some say Dizz now rides rather well, I say its all just the same as it always was.

So ner

on the plus side if she wants to be taken anywhere then that obviously means i will need a speed triple due to the extra weight or if she doesnt then i will need a duc 916 so shes not tempted to get on the back again

its a win win situation.
So you still haven't taken her on the back , and believe me a 916 isn't exclusively a one up machine

This was a quick vid I took of my blipping on downchanges, and there are plenty of others on Youtube to give you an idea. Best to do them quickly is all I can suggest. Blipping on the downchanges that is.

But if the back end's sliding out a lot then his burd will notice and he will no doubt scare her a tad and she will think all bikes do that. It is a good idea to be completely comfortable with your own riding before "subjecting" someone else to it

It's a throttle blip you need Andy. It just needs timing right. If you let go of the clutch with the throttle still open, or with the revs too high, you'll lurch forward. So you'd normally overblip very slightly so that you can let go of the throttle and match the revs as they fall past the right point, when you drop the clutch.

Takes practice to get spot on, as the amount of blip varies depending on speed, gear, rate of deceleration, etc.

I've been known to downshift right up to the redline to use engine braking into a corner. Not particularly good practice, but fun nonetheless - and it does demonstrate that you can get even high rpm downshifts very smooth.

Exactly why I said it. If he ain't comfy in his own riding, then maybe he should get out more and do his own thing, rather than putting himself in a sticky situation and trying to scare (or not scare) his Mrs.

I have never taken a pillion, as I do not wish to injure myself nor anyone else trying. I also think my riding has not been adequate enough to do it either. I am my own judge, and it should be the individual judging themselves on their own riding rather than others.

She won't want to get on the back of a Speed Triple in a hurry, have you seen the size of the pillion seat?
