![]() As well you should... Would be a sad world if someone called the plod every time we (intentionally or not) violated a traffic law. Putting them on someone for blowing a traffic light is well......a wee much IMHO. Quote:

I think if he was trying to give them a statement and get the driver done for the red light then that might be a bit over the top, especially under these circumstances, however just tipping off the police that such and such might be worth a pull because I've just seen them go through a red light is just good citizenship. We're not really interested in the red light, more the reason why they might have jumped it. Are they drunk, on drugs, or is it when their Mickey Mouse driving licence arrived from the internet it didn't come with instructions... Just think of the bigger picture.

I've called the police a couple of times. Once when I was folowing someone who was obviously drunk, the other time was a twonk driving a Range Rover who was on the phone. On this occiasion the Essex police switchboard operator would not take the info over the phone! I had to do it face to face with an officer
![]() If you can afford a Range Rover surely you can afford a hands free kit ![]() A couple of times I've been driving on my own and being completely unable to make a call myself (playing dodgems at the Dartford Crossing)when I've seen drivers smoking a spliff at the wheel. I'm sure they'd object if I was to swigg from a bottle of whiskey at the wheel. I won't answer calls when I'm driving, I'll pull over. If its important they'll call back. Mistakes cost peoples lives - remember the cyclist who was killed after a girl went through a red light whilst texting. Next time it could be you. Sorry rant over, tis one of my pet hates

I'm with Red on this one!
Although I do agree with maviczap about red light jumpers, there really is no excuse for it (unless you just have no road sense or you are not paying attention, even Wideboy had the guts to admit that he was in the wrong for it) Last edited by Von Teese; 18-09-09 at 06:54 AM. |

Saw a bus tear through a redlight (that had been red for ages) at a junction the other day, obviously just didn't notice. Took his number but bloody forgot when it was! Would have been usure whether to dob him in. You dunno if it's a one off, no harm done or he's a danger to others.

I am also with Red Herring (bugger there's me agreeing with him now!) on this. May I refer you to this thread http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=139472 where an unqualified driver killed a motorcyclist. If someone had 'dobbed them in' maybe that tragedy would have been avoided.
Don't think about the red light violation, think about why they missed it. |

+1 on the fact that the red light being jumped was not the key here, but why he did it being the important factor.
One thing I will say though is be bl00dy careful. Stretchie and I were on the Blade last year on the Bristol Ring Road. A guy in a Pontiac was driving really dangerously, weaving between lanes, not looking etc and when we pulled up beside him at the lights on one of the roundabouts, we both shook our heads a little. We didn't even do it directly at him, just a natural reaction. We then got chased up the ringroad. He was pretty much trying to get us off the road and finally, after me telling Stretchie to ride us to the police station (which he'd thought of as well), we had to stop at lights. The guy in the pontiac was huge and really wanted a fight, telling dan to get off the bike show what he was made of. Dan calmed him down and we rode on, but that (probably steroid high) idiot could have killed us. Moral of the story, be careful of knocking on the windows of, making gestures at or annoying people in cars, no matter how stupid they've been. Remember their plate and report them rather than get yourself chased or run off the road! |
