I've put a few bits in my toolkit, like a long 8mm socket to get to the bolts for the front clutch cover and some other things to adjust the clutch at the roadside if need be.

RE: the lag; try getting the carbs balanced (or is it an FI bike? cant remember your opening post now) and (if it is carb'd) get the chokes cleaned up. Spannerman did this to my bike, and I dont have that lag you describe anymore. Used to though, it was horrible

Dont get me wrong i'm not a whinging pom, it doesn't detract from what is a great bike, nice and quick (once your rear brake is not seizing), narrow for sqeezing through cagers, plus 50+ mpg.

Like all things in life its a compromise between weight / cost. A clam style rear brake for easy maintenance would have added to the initial price along with adding another 2 spark plugs.

All they need to do now is make the next model a shaft-drive and it would be the ultimate couriers bike. A modern retro version of me old mucker ("Punchy") the Revere !

I do love the amount of work thats gone into making the curvy frame, its a modern day piece of art.

Will try Alpines suggestion and look into balancing the carbs, i've got a twin kit in the garage from my Gpz305 days.

11mm

There's only one 11mm hex on an SV - and that's not it.

I needed to use my toolkit the other day. Both my bikes should have a full toolkit, plus a few extra pieces....

so why is it everytime I go under either bike, Mr Nobody has been using them and hasn't put them back how they found them
and I need it at the side of the road..grrrr
