Hitler Posting

yeah it's annoying when your trying to read a thread and someone really helpfully and maturely giggle's to themself whilst writing hitler thread and the thread goes all **** about face.

The Hitler thing can be funny from time to time if used well, otherwise i'm with the OP on this one for the most part.

Also derailing threads is not a good thing to do unless;

A- the thread itself had no real point at all like Widepants' recent one about his flux capacitor

or

B- the thread has CLEARLY reached the end of its purposeful life, like "can someone tell me x" and the second and 3rd replies settle the matter.

And yes i am saying this with my IB Mob hat on.

If any of you feel that your thread has been derailed pointlessly please remember we mods are very approachable about these things and will happily look at the thread for you and if we agree that the thread has been badly derailed we will clean it up as required.

Mods decisions are final, values can go up as well as down and your home is at risk of invasion by hordes of angry mods should you upset us too much.

I think the best thing people need to learn on here is 'if you can't say anything good, don't say anything at all'. Decent descriptive thread titles would reduce folk clicking on duplicate posts too.

No not at all, just theres a time and a place for it and in the middle of a thread in the more serious sections of the forum probably isnt the right time or place for it thats all...

if somthing gets posted 8+ times (like the hitler GS thread fair enough.

but you cant expect everyone to check all the threads before they post somthing .......just incase

Calling Hitler isn't really ridicule, its just a joke, and informing people that its been posted before. Otherwise someone's gonna post "wasn't this posted the other day?" etc. Sorry if you find it annoying. Some people find duplicate posts annoying - usually with sufficiently different thread titles that its impossible to tell you've seen it before until you click. And then, of course, some forum members just like to wind people up.

Plenty of threads have been labelled Hitler but still gone on to some conversation. It might be mildly annoying but I can't see why its a major issue - as long as its confined to the Idle Banter section.

Exactly. The original hitler bike was funny because it did get posted about 20 times. However, something that was posted 2 months ago and then gets posted again... not funny.
