Police in Northumberland thought they'd clocked a car doing almost 600mph. The jet fighter, just off the coast got missle lock, as well as frying the speedgun. Thankfully, for the copper, the pilot decided not to fire.

Northumberland Police received a letter advising them to tell their officers that it was unwise to aim speedguns at low flying military aircraft.

I`m calling Bull on that , for starters the aircraft whether it was Military or not would have devices fitted to stop a Laser getting lock on it . They are fitted to Nose , rear and either wing as well as one in the middle . This is to stop them being targeted when they are vulnerable on takeoff and landing as well as in the air . This is to stop terrorists trying to shoot them down , if they weren`t installed we would be losing Jets all over the place . The Police Laser gun probably has some short falls as well , the story is an Urban Myth and has been disproven by Mythbusters on TV as well ...... and for my own reasons that I cannot discuss , I know this is impossible .

I know , I can`t help it , the software/hardware can tell what type of laser it is anyway and dismiss it as non threatening . I seriously doubt a laser gun clamped down in a rig would alert one of these devices , never mind a Policeman with a steady arm and traffic thundering past
