Depends which route.

From Wigan to Stretford on the most direct route, it's either the access to the M602 from the M60, or if I stay on the M60 and get a green light, it's the exit at junction 9. Both awesome, fast exits. The access from the M602 onto the clockwise M60 has just been re-surfaced, not ridden it yet, but it's smoooooth!

If I've some spare time, the best bit is a blast from Culcheth to the A57 at Caddishead. Twisty, quick (only 60mph of course!) and good cross views.

Shutting my office door, walking 3 paces into the kitchen and switching on the kettle

The A470, for the half a mile or so that it's 70mph before dropping down to 50

It's a really weak 'best'. I might have said 'Caerphilly mountain' but I'm inevitably stuck behind some plonker in a powder blue Micra and the hamster inside his 'engine' hasn't been fed yet so it's struggling up the slope at 15mph.

Looking at all the cars queueing, and me in the bus lane waving to them.

And then cutting in before the camera.

And any filtering.

+1. I also enjoy the queensway tunnels, the sound of my can in there.

Depends on traffic. If the A3 is calm after I get past the Hook underpass (southbound), it's nice to open up on that big bend. Normally it's just a mess of everyone in lane 2 and 3 tailgating each other though.

Also, when the kids are off and the traffic is really light, coming off Painshill towards Weybridge- nice sharp bend there right off the roundabout- can get up to 70 coming out of that on a quiet, dry day!

Riding home- I guess the dual carriageway between Hersham and Esher can be fun, or opening up off the lights at Hinchley Wood- that can be a blast if you get away from the front. Nice long left hand sweeper to get leaning over on. Far better if I take a long ride home in summer though- towards Leatherhead/Boxhill.

Any broken/missing keep left arrows when I'm filtering
There was one yesterday on the pelican crossing island outside Harrods - That was a bit much going the wrong way through with no traffic lights to see

Used to go to Leeds quite a bit, so A38 through Burton on Trent past the Marstons and Bass brewery - lovely smell of beer.

I'm in Scouseland today. I don't usually bring the bike cos I have too much to carry, but when I do the Birkenhead Tunnel is awesome because of the noise echoing and then I don't have to pay (bikes free, cars £1.40), and then I like the A49 between Whitchurch and Shrewsbury, especially the bit around Lee Brockhurst as it's a fast open road with great bends.
