Just as an aside, have a look at

I used to use this map when I lived up north to halp me anticipate the Aurora.

that route looks really good, done some of they roads my self and they are good but give a bit of variety for me. the first ones i have done a few times.

the dukes pass has been mentioned a few times and a great road but last year it realy could have been doing with a good hoover the stones on the road where shocking. i done it on my KH125 and the ER5 and the concentration was a bit much.

The run to oban is ecelent going via loghiphead(spelling)

what about a wee run up the 82 to see the monster?

Difficult to get up there without covering a lot of ground twice, using the A9 to come back or catching a ferry is why. Not a problem for the Sunday runners heading to Skye though...

It's the main artery north from the West of Scotland, it's about 3 million feet wide, corners are no steeper than your average boomerang, and it'll be full of caravans. If you want to end up squaring off your tyres down the centre line at 100mph 'cos your so bored, head up towards Loch Ness. I'll spend my biking weekend in Scotland doing decent roads, and see you in the evening.

Great scenery though.
