Does the SV suffer from the ignition switch breaking up?

Nothing wrong with putting oil in the ignition barrel as far as I can imagine.

If the bike runs, then this isn't your primary problem. I'm pretty sure the fuse box for a K3 is under the front seat, or possibly under the rear.

It's an S, I also forgot to mention I had checked the fuses, none had blown. The lights never dimmed, they just went out all of a sudden.

I will check the plug under the tank tomorrow.

My bike (K4) is doing something very similar - went to the garage this morning and had no dips - main beams worked ok. I can get the dip beam to work by jiggling the wire under the clocks inside the fairing nose, unfortunately it was too dark to see what's up with it!

I also had a lot of flicker riding in where the uneven road surface shakes the head around

my k5 svz1000 did this still had side lights and it was yellow plug under front of tank while your in there unplug the other 2 and treat to some electrical grease think mine was a yellow connector and a yellow wire wasn't that obvious to spot but when i split the plug the plastic had melted and was causing bad connection / resistance.
