The formula:

f = 6x/12z-6y (So it's 6x divided by 12z-6y)

can be rearranged in the form:

z = A x/f + By (So it's A then x dived by f plus By)

where A and B are fractions.
Tried Wolfram Alpha?

For absolutely loads of things!!

Doctors use it for calculating dose ratios for given weights, and various other more complex things.

Pilots for navigation, engineers in designing and constructing things...physicists/space..

Analysing the market and coming up with figures.

Algebra is sooo important for many people and professions...though it may seem pointless and irrelevant at school!

aww man I wish. Shudda done maths or physics at uni or something. Learning about diseases from a textbook is soo much more mind numbing. Committing things to memory (at least at my stage now) is so much lamer than working things out for yourself.

Du get to do a lot of algebra studying computer security then?
