i used to do motorsport not F1 though and loved it. IP has done portraiture and glamour and helped with motorsport too. All done on film. Digital time lag annoyed me so all but given up esp when you can get into the processors these days as they want everything on CD. Nothing like a good large B&W photo hangining on th wall

It's very childish, but this summer we had a little competition among the cricket photographers during the Ashes to see who could get the best picture of Ricky Ponting in front of the Cockspur Rum ad boards. It stops them getting bored and the results were quite funny. This one made it into the Telegraph.

if you hunt for it you will find that there was also a videographer filming this same incident and this image it taken almosy exactly as the gun was fired. Its only a .38 revolver so the gas discharge was not as much as you'd imagine. Also the contrast in the pic does not pick it up well. The guy does indeed drop to the ground instantly after, none of his head "blows out" as you would imagine tho (its not like in the movies all the time). You can see from the reaction of the soldier to the left of frame who was not expecting him to fire that he just has.
Even if i find the vid i'm not gonna post it here as its quite disturbing, of course.

Yeh, depending on the split second that the shot is taken then it may be that the bullet has not had time to exit, hence the lack of facial injury.

It certainly looks as if some sort of force is hitting his face the way the side closest to the gun looks all kind of distorted. Quite a haunting picture actually.

you can tell it has just fired as well by the position of the pistol, the recoil has lifted it up, either that or he is crap at pointing guns.

In two minds on this. I find the images repulsive, I don't really want to gawk at murder. But equally the pics simply report what was happening and so deserve to be published. I spose that we can't hide from reality, although I prefer not to look at pix of cold blooded murder.

That is a brilliant shot, I just love how the bokeh makes it look like the red letters are glowing neon!
