I didn't even need to rejet from 700cc, exhaust and air filter, took it to the dyno and the guy said "well it's running a touch rich, you could leave it as is, I could rejet it or I could just open up the air filter a bit more...

I was under the impression you'd need to map/jet to get any gains from an exhaust let alone just the can.
72@rw with just the exhaust/can, no jetting changes.

wow never knew that, always assumed you'd need more fuel mixutre going through to match the exhaust to get any gains. Is the same true for FI do you know?

My bike has things fitted to it that I think make it look better, but as for performance, I am not sure. Mind you and I am slowly chopping it up into a more Streetfighter style.

So far it has a double bubble screen and I removed the standard rear guard and fitted a rear hugger to start with, although to be honest they were actually fitted by the shop when I bought the bike. I am dropping the clip ons for a riser bar, but keeping the fairing. Dropping the over size Indi's and fitting smaller and brighter pretty ones and I have also fitted a new ECU, albeit a 33BHP restricted one.

So I have changed a few things and plan to change a few more. I have been reading up about all sorts of toys, such as big bore kits and race cans, but it will be a few years until I am can afford or legally ride a bike with these toys.

Hope that helps. By the way, I am purely a keen amateur and do not have any formal training in working on Motorcycles, how many others are like me in this respect?

I started like that, then recovered a smashed up two stroke and learnt how to rebuild everything but the exhaust and forks, im terrible at it all but i know the basics on an old two stroke and im now doing anything that needs fixing/changing on the sv.

Well I class performance parts as anything that benefits attributes like power, braking, weight saving, handling, aerodynamics etc
Hope that helps

And thanks for all the votes already!

Stuff already done:
GSXR front end;
320mm brake rotors
4-pot calipers
HH pads
braided lines
about to be revalved to suit
heavier springs
synthetic fork oil

posh rear caliper
rearsets
decent rear shock

race cams
free'er flowing air filter
full M4 pipe
tank raisers
rejet

Stuff in the pipeline:
lightened flywheel
ported heads
busa pistons
bump compression
pod filters and another rejet or maybe some flatslide carbs
[Project:fire in the hole ... just waiting to find a crank to build the motor around]

On this note I was wondering if a GSXR1000K5 flywheel would fit, only 610g, the same way round and doesn't mean going total loss.

I am looking at possibility of fitting rare earth magnets and skimming flywheel down to minimal thickness to hold together

How much does the existing one weigh? The GSXR1000K5 is already fitted with rare earth magnets to get so light, in comparison for example the NC30 flywheel is 1.8Kg!!

I've got one anyway which I plan on seeing if it will fit.
