Only in America would they thing its a good idea to fire at metal targets! Sigh. Wood with dirt or rubber behind it.
![]() As to the sound. It sounds ok to me. The noise of it returning is going to be after the ping obviously as after that I doubt the bullet will still be going fast at all, certainly not much if any faster than sound. Then as it hits the person its only a few meters away so there would be virtually no lag between sound and light, or not enough for us to notice. The wistle sound if the bullet was still going faster than sound would be having a Doppler effect which would explain the strange whistle noise coming back. As to the penetration, a vehicle generally has very thin plates or armour, and engine blocks of soft aluminium or thin steel. If they are using a couple of inch of Iron or hard steel plate to fire at, it wont go through it, unless they are going for specific AP rounds, and in a sniper I cant imagine they would. At 1000 yards away, after the bullet strikes the target the sound travelling back will take 3 seconds.
Gun goes off, just over 1 second later the bullet hits the target 1000 yards away, the sound of the bullet hitting the target now takes 3 seconds to return. So after the guns fired the ping will be heard 4 seconds later. The actually delay is less than 1 second. So the target must be around 150 metres away at most. The bullet ricoshet will most likely be slower than sound hence you hear it coming back. At that distance it makes the event more plausible too. No idea where 1000 yards figure came from, someone pretending to be a better shooter than they are lol. |

They are awsome weapons. and huge up close and personal. There was one in the armoury in Lisburn when i was there. They are really heavy , No doubting their awsome fire power. and they are used by snipers. however their weight and bulk gives them a distinct disadvantage, hence why the 7.62 sniper rifle is the weapon of choice for sniping still.
