where did you get your information from? I'd like to do some reading into this as in my experience there was no comparison between the two alarms. The meta was poo and the datatool so far has been good I've searched on google but nothing comes up on the two companies being the same

Ill admit, I ripped my datatool system 3 out as well.

I hated it.

Having to dis arm it at petrol stations, whenever you stop the bike at rideouts etc.

Having it draining the battery was a pain in the a** too.

Hello Mate,
There made in germany (well the european ones are) ive been there.
They are built in the same factory, on the same lines, might be a different sticker that goes on at the end, but thats it, o and the fob will be different.

Its the same as pirelli and metzler are in the same factory out there.
Have a look at the racetech and the supercorsa.

hi nick i have a datatool system 3 on my triumph s4 i havent done any milage on the bike sinc i bought it in september (very bad i know ) but i fitted a new battery after i bought the bike thinking the battery was f****ed ,but i was wrong , i still have a drain on the new battery,my mate has a triumph s3 which we swaped my old battery with after we fully charged it up and its been ok , have you done any work on your elecs m8 !!! ive read up on the triumph forum , the s4 has a twin headlight ,but only 1 works on dip and the other works on full beam ,but they have the extra space to fit relays to get the two lamps working on dip and main beam ,which i have done !! fitted exyra relays so i can get bright light at night ! 2x2 wow !! but the problem is i got relays on the cheap and aparently they drain my battery ,becuause they dont have a diode fitted like the oem relays !!! i removed the relays and the battery is still charged ,.,.,. so whch means its the mods i made on the bike that was the fault not the datatool !!!! if you done any mods mate check them first !!!!

I have a Meta TV 2 as well, as you say just goes to immobiliser when filling up if not set with fob.

Had no problems yet 1 year in.

I've left the bike for a couple of days and its still got 12.8 V. I think it drains really quickly because both headlights come on the minute you turn the ignition on, so you have to fire it up straight away. I have a meta m357t2 fitted to my fazer 1000 its much better as it only immobilises if you don't turn the ignition on. The fazer also only puts the side lights on until the bike fires up, so it doesn't flatten the battery. The datatool system 3 is an idiotic design because if you want to do anything to the bike - fuel stops etc.. you have to put it in to sleep mode.

How do you reach this conclusion? Which other checks have you done?
