I think we are allowed ropes to help us over here in snow, but chains are not allowed i think.

Nope, take the bus instead....it will be cheaper in the long run!

I had a little blat round on my Gas Gas enduro bike, great fun in the fresh snow around where I live, especially where the snow has drifted into huge piles in the lanes, but stayed away from any of the main roads that have been salted, don't want to rust the bike...
