putting a 180 rear on would raise the rear massivley and cause all sorts of handling issues. simple dont do it. 160 tyres are cheaper anyway ! All good race rubber is available in 160 too so there really is no point in looking at alternatives. No one has ever set a lap record on a 180 and i've never even seen one fitted to a mintwin in the 3 years i've been around the series. 120/70 and 160/60 is the known and quick way to go.

Yup thats with wheels that arent minitwin legal.

TBH we fit alot of road bikes with 120/70/17 fronts due to their required tyre not being made in the 120/60 profile and in reality most have reported no difference that they noticed!.

Yup I tried both (same tyre) and difference was marginal though it did seem to make the steering slightly better. (kawa shock too short)

Are you on the road or racing?. A 160/60/17 works well for the minitwin racers who use enough lean to start grinding through downpipes LOL so on the road they would be more than good enough.

If your racing then riding style could be a factor or why are you thinking your running out of tyre?.
